Job Description

The Junior Graphic Designer will serve as part of the Association’s Marketing and Communications Team, directly supporting organizational departments and association-wide programs. This role is responsible for planning, designing, and producing quality design solutions to effectively communicate the Y’s mission and cause. The position ensures brand stewardship of design materials and upholds brand standards while creating media deliverables such as social media graphics, flyers, digital ads, and more.

Requirements

• Associate degree or coursework in graphic design, graphic arts, visual communications, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent knowledge and experience (Preferred).
• 1–2 years of graphic design experience, including internships, freelance work, or portfolio-based experience (Preferred).
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
• Basic understanding of social media platforms and digital marketing design standards.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
• Ability to accept feedback and make revisions professionally and efficiently.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Photography, Canva, video editing, or web design experience is a plus.
• Creative and dedicated individual who embraces a diverse and collaborative team.
• Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
• Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
• Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on the first day, and other online and in-person training as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and produce marketing materials, including flyers, brochures, posters, social media graphics, email graphics, banners, presentations, and signage.
• Assist with maintaining brand consistency across all YMCA communications and promotional materials.
• Collaborate with marketing and communications team members to execute strategy and achieve goals in print and design.
• Prepare files for print production and coordinate with vendors when needed.
• Edit and resize graphics, photos, and visual assets for multiple platforms and formats.
• Assist the Senior Marketing Manager in defining and documenting project scope, goals, and deliverables for marketing and communications projects.

• Other duties as assigned.
