Position: Social Media Manager & Content Creator

Location: Remote / Hybrid (Metro Detroit area)

Job Type: Independent Contractor / Freelance

Compensation: Competitive, based on experience

We are a new creator-led digital media company in Southeast Michigan looking for a creative and organized Social Media Manager who is passionate about social media and audience growth. This role offers the flexibility to work hours that suit you as long as responsibilities are completed. The ideal candidate will enjoy creating content and staying updated on social media trends while helping to build a brand from the ground up.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience creating content and managing social media accounts for a brand or business.
• Strong short-form video editing skills using tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, Canva, Descript, or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Facebook, and emerging social media formats.
• Excellent written communication and copywriting skills.
• Ability to create visually appealing graphics and social content.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage deadlines and maintain a consistent posting schedule.
• Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with social media scheduling and analytics tools like Hootsuite, Later, Metricool, Buffer, or similar platforms.
• Must attend occasional brand/company events to create behind-the-scenes content.
• Candidate should reside in the Metro Detroit area.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience growing social media audiences organically.
• Experience creating viral or high-performing social content.
• Photography, videography, or content production experience.
• Familiarity with repurposing long-form content into short-form clips.
• Experience working with traditional and/or digital media companies, marketing firms, or content creators.

Additional Information

Compensation:

• $900 - $1,100 per month
• Compensation based on experience and workload
• Flexible schedule

• Estimated job start date: mid-July
• Contract workers manage their own taxes (via 1099 forms) with flexible hours.
