Job Description

Local Editor (Austin) needed for an experimental short documentary. The role requires proficiency in sound and picture editing, as well as Vimeo uploads and basic website development. This is a part-time temporary editing position offered by an original local Austinite, with the potential for more editing gigs in the future. The initial focus is on editing a short film that is set for submission to a major film festival in 2027.

The film is a Pro Human Rights, Pro Immigration, Pro USA short documentary that showcases the best aspects of the community while also providing a brief history of its challenges. The film is largely non-scripted and will have minimal dialogue, with music playing a crucial role.

Requirements

- Proficient in sound and picture editing

- Experience with Vimeo uploads

- Basic website development skills

- Ability to clean sound and work with licensed, composed, or public domain music

- Capability to add and subtract scenes as required

- Experience creating 1-2 minute trailers

- Willingness to upload cuts to Vimeo for editing notes and final versions

- Availability to work 4 hours daily at the filmmaker’s home and collaborate with the director, with potential additional work from home

- Must finish the project before the midterm elections and submit to film festivals

Additional Information

Pay ranges from $25.00 to $45.00 per hour.

Work will be hybrid remote in Austin, TX 78757.
