Canva and Social Media Designer

The Lighthouse, Auckland UniServices’ research commercialisation and entrepreneurship hub, needs ongoing design support to turn finished content into published assets. We run the Return On Science, Momentum, and Te Kōara programmes and need a designer who can work within our existing Canva templates and brand kit.

You will create social media graphics and carousels for Instagram and LinkedIn, build emails in Flodesk using existing templates, and format documents and editorial content such as reports and memos. You should also be able to create new Canva templates when needed while following our established logos, colours, and fonts. This is execution and template-building work rather than brand or content strategy. The role will require a few flexible hours per week on an ongoing basis, with the option to scale up during busier periods. Auckland- or New Zealand-based designers are preferred.

A designer to work inside our existing Canva templates and brand kit to produce: • Social media statics and carousels (Instagram, LinkedIn) • Email builds in Flodesk, using our existing email templates • Layout and formatting for documents and editorial pieces (reports, memos, longer-form pieces) Alongside this, we want someone who can suggest and build out new templates as gaps come up, expanding our existing Canva system rather than just working within it. Our brand kit (logos, colours, fonts) is already set up, so new templates need to stay within that system. This is execution and template-building work, not brand or content strategy. Hours: A few hours a week, ongoing, with flexibility to scale up during busier periods. Tools: Canva (Brand Kit set up), Flodesk. Ideal fit: Comfortable working to a locked brand system, with a good enough eye to design new templates within it as well as populate existing ones. Fast turnaround, consistent quality. Auckland-based or NZ-based preferred.
