Job Description
This is a temporary position for a period of 6 months. The Graphic Artist Assistant will create and produce page layouts designed to educate the community about programs and other resources available at The Library. This position works with The Library’s brand standards and guidelines to design and prepare layouts for promotional materials using the Adobe Creative Cloud of software. The software includes, but is not limited to, InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. The Graphic Artist will assist the supervisor and collaborate with department staff on projects which focus on outreach activities throughout Dauphin County communities.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Education/Training: Certificate or Associates Degree in Graphic Design.
- Experience: One-year experience in graphic design. One-year experience using InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Required Skills: Ability to produce accurate, grammatically correct written communication. Excellent customer service and communication skills, ability to move 25 lbs. unassisted.
- Requires independent transportation for travel to libraries, programs, and outreach locations.

Essential Functions
- Uses Adobe Creative Cloud software to update and produce marketing materials including flyers, bookmarks, brochures, and posters.
- Maintains project list in the Community Relations Portal, organizing work schedules based on deadlines.
- Produces signage for libraries and assists with print projects submitted by Friends Groups.
- Provides production support, including laminating and mounting materials.
- Travels to collect video footage for social media and website projects.
- Attends staff meetings and continuing education workshops.
- Lives by the Core Values.
- Performs other related duties.
Environmental Conditions
Primarily works indoors, seated at a desk, using a computer. Travels among facilities. Provides own transportation and is reimbursed accordingly.
