Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Freelance Social Media Manager to support an established Inglewood-based hair and beauty business. This role is ideal for someone who can take ownership of the social media function, bring ideas to the table, and keep content moving without needing constant direction. The right candidate will understand that strong social media content starts with an understanding of the brand, its audience, communication guidelines, goals, and priorities to plan and create relevant content.

Most of the work can be completed remotely, but candidates must be local to the Los Angeles area and available for periodic in-person content capture in Inglewood, CA. This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity, not an employee position.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage monthly content plans that support consistent daily posting across the brand’s social platforms
• Batch-create and prepare content in advance to maintain a consistent daily content cadence
• Help identify content themes, campaigns, and opportunities that align with the brand
• Contribute ideas and recommendations that strengthen the overall social media direction
• Write engaging captions, calls to action, and other social copy that align with the brand’s voice
• Schedule and publish approved content across relevant social platforms
• Repurpose existing photo and video assets into additional social content
• Participate in and help coordinate periodic in-person content capture in the Los Angeles area
• Help plan efficient content capture sessions to produce useful content
• Organize social media content and digital assets for easy access and reuse
• Monitor content performance and use insights to improve future content
• Stay aware of relevant social media trends and identify those that make sense for the brand
• Communicate proactively about content needs, approvals, priorities, and opportunities

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have demonstrated experience managing social media for a business or brand and be comfortable taking meaningful ownership of their work. The requirements include:

• Professional social media management experience
• Portfolio or examples of previous work
• Understanding of how brand voice, audience, goals, and positioning should influence content
• Ability to develop ideas and make recommendations
• Independent work ethic with awareness of when client input or approval is needed
• Strong written communication and copywriting skills
• Understanding of short-form video and social-first content
• Comfort with batching, planning, and scheduling content in advance
• Organized and capable of managing content calendars, deadlines, approvals, and digital assets
• Ability to interpret basic social media performance data
• Reliability, responsiveness, and comfort working directly with a business owner
• Located in the Los Angeles area and available for agreed-upon in-person content sessions

Experience with hair, beauty, lifestyle, or other visually driven consumer brands is a plus, but not required. Experience with social media strategy is also a bonus.

Additional Information

This opportunity may not be a good fit if your experience is primarily limited to scheduling pre-created posts, you prefer receiving detailed instructions for every piece of content, or you’re not available for occasional in-person work in Los Angeles. We’re seeking someone who can bring strong execution, initiative, creativity, and good judgment to the role.

Pay: $1,200.00 - $1,500.00 per month
