Hi, I’m Karen Locklin, a composer and performer based in Ontario, Canada. My career spans composing, teaching, and performing across school programs, theatre, and community ensembles, with experience as a pianist, horn player, and ensemble leader. I’ve written for youth orchestras, theatre productions, and choral groups, while also mentoring students and growing arts programs in diverse educational settings. I’m passionate about making music accessible and engaging for learners of all ages and backgrounds.
In addition to composing and performing, I’ve led arts departments, taught IB programmes, and collaborated with orchestras and jazz ensembles. My work emphasizes expressive, collaborative music-making and lifelong learning, from early childhood through secondary education, with ongoing commissions for orchestras, chamber ensembles, and vocal/instrumental groups.
