I’m Karen Locklin, a composer and performer with a lifelong love of translating energy, spirit, and the natural world into music. My work blends classical training with lyrical, harmonic, and rhythmic intensity to create a universal language—one that speaks through orchestra, chamber ensembles, and community programs. I’m drawn to collaborative creation, inclusive education, and projects that elevate young people’s voices in music.
From early piano lessons and school bands to leading arts programs in Canada and Kuwait, I’ve built a career around teaching, composing, and performing across genres. I’ve written for youth programs, conducted ensembles, and collaborated with theatre and education groups to bring music to diverse audiences. I continue to explore expressive, tech-enabled approaches to music-making, aiming to inspire curiosity and lifelong learning in students and audiences alike.
