"When Jenifer McKitrick contacted me about writing a reference letter, I felt honored to be asked and it is my pleasure to be of support. I saw Jenifer in 1979 on the Kent State campus bus. I was a sophomore. I introduced myself and asked her to go to a movie. She had just begun her freshman year, and I was her first college date! We enjoyed the film together, but we didn’t fall in love or get married. We hot the real jackpot and became lifelong friends. We had many friends and social events in common, we were both in bands, and remained cordial through our college years, and I moved to San Francisco after graduation, and she went to Cape Cod. In 1991, I found out she had moved to San Francisco and we met up. I had always loved her voice and had noticed her talent when singing harmonies, soI told her of my idea to get together and try singing country music together. Her college band was not at all country, so I was pleasantly surprised when she expressed her eagerness to try out q new challenge. We ended up doing sone performances in SF, our duo was called Dwight-n Jenny. Before long, Jenifer ’s drummer Diane from Kent arrived in San Francisco, and she joined us along with a bassist Stephanie who had just graduated from Yale and was back in CA. We performed and recorded as The Swingin’ Doors, and I think she would agree these were some of the best times of our lives. I remember her performing on stage with us upon to her 7th month of pregnancy, so it’s no surprise that her daughter turned out to be a fan of country music. The band broke up when Jen was approached by a label to make a solo record, and when Maggie started Kindergarten, Jen went to University of San Francisco for their Special Education Masters Program. We stayed in touch through her teaching years, and still do. We met up just last month when she was in town to take care of a friend who was recovering from a surgery. If I had to sum up what I can recommend about Jenifer, I’d have to say she is a loyal friend, great team player, very intelligent, and I think her values are honesty, creativity, community, and love.I have never known her to have any problems getting along with anyone, and she is great about keeping promises and being punctual.
