Transcendent is seeking a UI/UX Product Designer for a part-time remote contract to support the development of Blossom. Blossom is an online, bilingual education platform that provides bilingual students with an innovative reading experience to help facilitate their learning of a second language or maintain proficiency in their second or native language. Blossom provides teachers and families with bilingual, curriculum-aligned reading materials that adapt to diverse language needs in a single click by offering every story in a range of language blends that can be changed at any time. In this role, you will work closely with our engineering and R&D team to expand upon our current Blossom prototype. You will be expected to translate product requirements provided by the R&D team into user-friendly designs and visualizations to facilitate product creation by the engineering team. Specifically, we aim to enhance the reading experience for all user types, co-develop book activities/quizzes for children, develop data dashboards related to reading usage and activity performance, and ensure an optimal user experience for users of all ages.

Job Responsibilities

Specific activities will include but are not limited to the following:

● Evaluate and update UI/UX look and feel requirements.

● Translate product requirements into UI wireframes (using Figma, Adobe XD, etc), mock-ups, or prototypes that clearly illustrate how the application functions and looks.

● Create an immersive and effective graphic user interface for a complete and compelling user experience.

● Design Graphic interface elements such as menus, tabs, widgets, controls, and input fields.

● Prepare and present drafts to internal teams and iteratively update drafts based on feedback.

● Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness).

● Make adjustments based on user feedback.

● Attend regular virtual meetings with R&D and engineering teams.

Your Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in design or computer science-related field preferred

● 3 years of work experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role in children’s educational technology or media preferred

● Portfolio/gallery of design projects

● Strong expertise using Graphical development tools such as Photoshop, Adobe XD, Sketch, Figma,

Illustrator, Anima, iOS, Android, Design Systems, or Adobe Creative Suite

● Self-directed with strong communication skills to collaborate across teams
