Job Description

As a User Experience Designer, you will focus on solving problems for users on mobile and desktop applications. Creating experiences that simplify user tasks with subtle animations. Collaborate across disciplines to create the best experiences. Determine the design assets that clarify expectations and uncover obstacles. Develop low-fidelity concepts, sketches, interactive prototypes, and final interaction designs. Remove confusion and align ideas across teams. Contribute to product and strategic decisions enhancing customer and employee experiences.

Requirements

  • Deep experience in front-end web application development
  • Expertise in UI/UX design or web developer certifications & training
  • Previous experience in the Electric and Gas Utility Industry
  • Proficient in web markup including HTML5, CSS3, and React
  • Knowledge of server-side CSS pre-processing platform (SASS)
  • Exposure to front-end user frameworks like Vue.js, Angularjs, Reactjs
  • Familiarity with screen reader tools (VoiceOver, JAWS, NVDA)
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies and cross-functional teams
  • Strong understanding of cross-browser compatibility and accessibility standards
  • Ability to create clean semantic HTML markup
  • Experience with Human Centered Design techniques including research and usability

Additional Information

This is a 1-year contract role based in San Antonio, TX with a hybrid work model. The rate ranges from $38 to $48 per hour. The client is the nation’s largest provider of electric and natural gas services. The role involves developing and supporting customer-facing design systems, creating reusable and responsive patterns, collaborating with analysts and developers, participating in new user interface testing, and staying updated on user interface trends and programming techniques.

Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, skilled use of technology Storyboarding tools, and a history of working with holistic solutions for end user needs.
