Job Description:

A graphic designer’s primary role involves creating designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on design principles. They must exhibit high creativity and effectively communicate their ideas to both internal and external clients. Flexibility in meeting client demands, working well under pressure, and multitasking are essential skills.

Responsibilities:

• Research and Gap Analysis by researching existing typefaces to identify gaps in the market and innovate
• Conceptualization and sketching out initial concepts for new typefaces or fonts
• Digital Prototyping using tools like FontLab, Glyphs, or RoboFont to create digital prototypes
• Testing and Quality Assurance of typeface across various contexts and applications
• Collaboration and Feedback with designers, clients, or type foundries to incorporate feedback
• Development of comprehensive type specimens to showcase typeface in various settings
• Continuous evolution with typography trends, technologies, and industry best practices

Requirements:

• Proficiency in creating custom typefaces from concept to digital prototypes
• Skills in Figma, Illustrator, FontLab, RoboFont, and Glyphs for type design
• Ability to tailor typefaces to project requirements ensuring versatility and uniqueness
• Effective collaboration with designers, clients, and teams
• Familiarity with designing for AR and VR applications
• Comfort working with engineering teams and understanding technical constraints
• AR/VR experience
• 5+ years of design production experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field

Location: Seattle, WA / New York, NY / Burlingame, CA

Role type: Contract 6 Month Position

Expected hours: 40 per week
