Job Description

The Office of the Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder and Chief Election’s Officer is seeking a Graphics Specialist to perform skilled information design using a variety of desktop publishing systems. The work may also include some graphics design and layout. The position will work closely with departmental staff to define needs, evaluate alternatives, and develop the most effective educational and informational materials to represent the Office.

The current position is a full-time, temporary (extra-help) position. The graphics specialist hired for the position will be a key contributor to the 2024 Presidential General Election, and the project is expected to be ongoing for up to a year.

Requirements

Knowledge of:

• Graphic design concepts, materials, techniques, and equipment used in commercial art.
• Federal accessibility standards for web design.
• Operating principles and practices of multiple word processing/spreadsheet database programs such as WORD and EXCEL.
• Operating principles and practices of multiple desktop publishing/graphics programs such as Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Techniques for estimating time and processes required for document needs.
• Standard office practices and procedures, including filing and operation of standard office equipment.
• Correct English usage, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• Proper format for business correspondence, reports, and informational materials.

Skill/Ability to:

• Operate various hardware and software for word processing, spreadsheet, and desktop publishing in a production setting.
• Estimate time and materials required for a finished product.
• Design commemorative election pins.
• Maintain the department’s website and intranet site.
• Create empowering PowerPoint presentations.
• Proofread and produce accurate work, organize and prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Maintain accurate records, establish cooperative relationships, and work effectively in a team.
• Sit for extended periods at a workstation while maintaining attention to detail.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
