Job Description

City Cast is seeking a highly creative and collaborative contractor to join our City Cast Chicago team as a part-time Social Media Manager for platforms including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Reddit. In this role, you’ll be responsible for social content creation, ideating and executing videos and static posts, and building social communities on behalf of the City Cast Chicago team and brand. You’ll closely collaborate with City Cast’s Director of Marketing and the Executive Producer to leverage social to build the City Cast Chicago brand. The ideal candidate should have passion and knowledge about all things Chicago, including the 95-96 Bulls and deep-dish pizza. This is a part-time, temporary 1099 contractor position expected to last three months, with a commitment of 20 hours per week. There is potential for this contract to be renewed.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in content creation or social media management, ideally in an editorial setting.
• Strong proficiency with Instagram, including proven success with Instagram reels, static posts, and stories.
• Additional experience with TikTok, Reddit, and/or YouTube is a plus.
• Experience in video editing and content creation using tools like Adobe Premiere, InShot, CapCut, and Canva.
• Excitement about covering a wide variety of topics: food and lifestyle, but also news, transportation, politics, and more.
• Familiarity with City Cast Chicago’s voice and tone and the ability to adapt content to match it.
• Comfort with brainstorming and executing creative content ideas, both independently and collaboratively.
• The ability to create a consistent posting routine and project the appropriate voice and tone of the City Cast brand.

Additional Information

This is a part-time, temporary 1099 contractor position expected to last three months, with a commitment of 20 hours per week. The hourly rate will range from $35-$45, depending on experience. As a contractor, you will not be eligible for employee benefits or perks, including health insurance and paid time off. This is a hybrid role, requiring residence in the metro area of Chicago, Illinois.
