Job Description
The Social Media Manager (Marketer II) develops, executes, and measures integrated, multichannel social media marketing campaigns that support Utah State University’s alumni engagement activities and fundraising efforts. The position is responsible for managing the USU Office of Advancement and Alumni Engagement social media presence and digital marketing initiatives, including creating and executing a paid advertising strategy with SEO integration. This role also involves creating original content, such as photos and videos, to enhance ROI and engage the audience.
Success in this role requires ensuring that all social media and digital marketing messaging aligns with strategic goals, building affinity for Utah State University and the Alumni Association. The manager must articulate the purpose behind social media campaigns and engage with the audience in meaningful ways.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Two years in a professional social media and paid digital marketing role.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, English or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in social media strategy, content creation, and management.
- Professional experience building brand presence and engaging with constituents online.
- Experience using social media measurement tools and presenting metrics.
- Ability to attend and travel to events outside of normal working hours, including weekends and evenings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in using social media for non-profit and philanthropic/giving strategies.
- Experience in Google search and display advertising preferred; Google certification is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Solid understanding of social media platform nuances and best practices.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting metrics and acting on insights.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and current trends.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive, innovative, and creative thinking abilities.
- Strong time- and project-management skills.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, video editing, and photography.
Responsibilities
- Create, edit, and share daily content that fosters community engagement.
- Write, edit, and proof social media copy for clarity and accuracy.
- Develop and execute an integrated social media and paid digital marketing strategy.
- Collaborate with university partners to enhance content reach and engagement efforts.
- Monitor and interact with social media communities.
- Manage a digital marketing budget and content calendar.
- Establish metrics for tracking social media performance.
