Style Summary
Blend old-school trust with subtle modern clarity. Think: a firm handshake in a clean grid. Logo design should lean into heritage (like Filson), layout structure and type should take cues from Hard Yakka, and overall composition can subtly nod toward more contemporary brands like Monochrome — but only as a light influence. This is not about chasing trends. The final design must feel current without losing the practical, grounded nature our trade audience expects.
Visual References
Filson: Weathered serif logos, with modern font pairing for heading and body copy. suggests timeless utility
Hard Yakka: Aussie-rooted, grid layout, red/black. Bold modern clear, functional.
Monochrome: If used, apply clean, bold layouts with restraint. Subtle references can modernise the identity, but must remain secondary. Our core audience must always feel seen. We’re open to designer suggestions on how far or if this influence can be included without compromising trade relevance.
Design Notes
Logo: Serif or slab-serif (e.g., Carlson) with a traditional tone
Typography: Modern bold sans for UI/headlines; serif used in logo only
Layout: Grid-driven, high contrast, modular
Color: Use strong, grounded tones appropriate to the industry. Avoid glossy or overly bright pastel palettes. Specific colour guidance intentionally left open — final palette should feel reliable, no-nonsense, and visually aligned with trade expectations. Must maintain trade credibility that doesn’t alienate core customers.
Imagery: Real sites, well-worn gear, crane drops, vans
Labelling (if applicable): Should be clear and legible — Design must prioritise function and usability in real-world trade contexts.
Font Contrast Goal: Juxtapose traditional logo mark (Carlson) with bold, modern UI fonts that are strong, functional, and legible across signage and digital applications — e.g., Inter, Helvetica Now, or Work Sans. These are examples only; the designer may recommend similar alternatives aligned with the tone and use cases of the brand.
