Job Description

The PT Graphic Designer designs and creates graphics that adhere to Lone Star College’s (LSC) brand and standards while meeting customer needs. This role involves using various tools and mediums to create artistic and decorative products and visual solutions for communication. Essential functions include guiding student workers, keeping advertising materials current, meeting with the creative services manager to develop layouts based on customer needs, and designing graphics for a variety of projects including brochures, flyers, newsletters, and more.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be detail-oriented, a team player, and technologically savvy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Publisher.
  • Knowledge of PC (Microsoft Office) and MACs, along with graphic design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, DreamWeaver, and HTML.
  • Flexibility in prioritizing deadlines and managing expectations.
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Knowledge of general layout principles and basic aesthetic design concepts.
  • Ability to adapt to changing technology and acquire new skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Physical Abilities

The work is primarily sedentary, involving sitting comfortably. Some walking, standing, bending, and light carrying (e.g. papers and books) may be required. Driving an automobile may also be involved. No special physical demands are needed to perform the work.

Work Schedule and Conditions

The role is performed in a climate-controlled office environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards. The equipment used includes a PC workstation in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and general office equipment. The designer interfaces with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out position functions.

Salary and Benefits

Hourly pay rate is $19.69. Benefits include a supportive work environment, excellent work/life balance, tuition waiver, participation in a tax-deferred retirement plan, and more.
