Job Description

The Social Media Manager (Marketer II) develops, executes, and measures integrated, multichannel social media marketing campaigns that support Utah State University’s alumni engagement activities and fundraising efforts. This role involves managing the USU Office of Advancement and Alumni Engagement social media presence and digital marketing initiatives, including creating and executing paid advertising strategies with SEO integration. The Social Media Manager creates original content demonstrating strong ROI while ensuring messaging is strategic, and builds affinity for Utah State University and the Alumni Association. The person in this position will attend and travel to Advancement and Alumni functions outside of normal working hours for event documentation and sharing on social media. The manager will also have the opportunity to hire and manage a part-time student worker titled Visual Content Creator.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years in a professional social media and paid digital marketing role, with experience in creating original content, developing and executing social media and marketing strategies, and using social analytics tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, English, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in social media strategy and content creation and management.
  • Professional experience interacting with constituents online and understanding content that builds affinity.
  • Experience using social media measurement tools and presenting metrics.
  • Experience developing and executing paid social media and digital marketing strategies.
  • Availability to attend and travel to functions outside normal working hours, including weekends and evenings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using social media to drive non-profit and philanthropic/giving strategies.
  • Additional experience in Google search and display advertising; Google certification is a plus.
  • Proactive, innovative, and creative thinker with a creative eye.
  • Up to date on social and digital trends and thrives in a collaborative environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of the nuances of each social platform and appropriate content presentation methods.
  • Strong analytical skills, capable of interpreting and acting on metrics.
  • Knowledge and experience with SEO best practices and trends.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, video editing, and photography.
