Job Description

East Africa Gate (EAG) is seeking a talented, self-motivated, and highly organized Freelance Social Media Manager to join our growing team. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely and manage the social media presence for our diverse portfolio of clients. As a Freelance Social Media Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing clients’ social media strategies, creating content, fostering community engagement, monitoring performance, and adapting strategies to achieve client objectives. Your expertise will enhance brand visibility, drive traffic, and generate leads for businesses in Ethiopia and the East African market. This position requires creativity, analytical thinking, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams.

Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a Social Media Manager, Digital Marketing Specialist, or similar role.
  • Excellent knowledge of major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok) and their best practices.
  • Understanding of social media KPIs, web traffic metrics, content marketing, and basic SEO principles.
  • Experience with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social, Later).
  • Ability to deliver creative, compelling content across various formats (text, image, video).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Amharic.
  • Highly analytical and adept at multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and time management abilities with a capacity to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, or related field.
  • Experience with social media advertising platforms (e.g., Facebook Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager).
  • Proficiency in basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express) for content creation.
  • Track record of growing social media engagement and driving conversions for client accounts.
  • Prior experience in an agency environment or managing multiple brands/clients.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing trends and consumer behavior in the East African market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive social media strategies.
  • Create, curate, and manage engaging written, image, and video content.
  • Schedule and publish posts using appropriate tools.
  • Monitor social media channels for trends, inquiries, and competitor activities.
  • Analyze social media performance data and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Manage and optimize social media advertising campaigns.
  • Collaborate with graphic designers, videographers, and content writers for on-brand content.
  • Remain updated with social media best practices, tools, and platform changes.
  • Engage with online communities and key influencers to expand client reach.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards and data privacy regulations.
