Job Description

Join the newest addition to the WNBA family as we bring professional women’s basketball to Canada! The Toronto Tempo is the WNBA’s 14th franchise and first Canadian team set to tip off in May. Our team is dedicated to fostering a culture of excellence both on and off the court, empowering our players, engaging our fans, and making a positive impact in our community.

We are seeking a talented and driven Graphic Designer to join our growing creative team, reporting to the Manager, Content Marketing on a contract basis for three months from January to March 2026. The Graphic Designer will be responsible for designing high-impact creative assets across all brand and content marketing channels, including social media, website, email, merchandise, and in-game visuals. This individual is a visual storyteller with strong technical skills and a keen eye for design consistency, thriving in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

The Graphic Designer helps define the visual identity and storytelling of the Toronto Tempo and ensures that every design touchpoint reflects the energy, pride, and purpose of our home team. They will work closely with the Content and Social teams and the broader Marketing team to bring campaigns to life, from concept to execution, while helping establish and protect the Tempo’s brand identity across all platforms.

Responsibilities

Creative Design & Execution

  • Develop visually engaging creative assets and templates for the Tempo’s channels (social, digital, print, and in-arena).
  • Design for campaign-based and always-on content needs, adhering to Tempo brand guidelines.
  • Assist in producing social-first assets for various platforms.
  • Lead certain design projects in collaboration with different teams.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Content Marketing to drive fan engagement and storytelling.
  • Support content creation across various formats including stills, motion, GIFs, and videos.
  • Ensure brand consistency and quality across all visual outputs.

Collaboration & Workflow

  • Work with internal teams and external partners to deliver creative that supports key initiatives.
  • Support the Manager, Content Marketing by organizing assets within the Digital Asset Management system.
  • Coordinate with external partners, photographers, and videographers as needed.
  • Support creative briefs, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Innovation & Brand Development

  • Contribute to the evolution of the Tempo’s visual identity and document creative standards.
  • Stay ahead of design trends and bring fresh ideas to the table.
  • Assist in the creation of branded templates and toolkits for use.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional design experience, ideally in sports, entertainment, media, or lifestyle brands.
  • Expert in Adobe CC; Photoshop, Illustrator, & Acrobat.
  • Proficiency with motion graphics and animation is helpful.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, typography, layout, and digital optimization.
  • Experience designing for multiple platforms and formats including social, print, and motion graphics.
  • Familiarity with photography and video editing is considered an asset.
  • Passion for basketball, women’s sports, or community-driven storytelling is a plus.
  • Must be able to work full-time for a three-month contract from January to March 2026.
