Job Description

Morning Brew Inc. is seeking a skilled writer and visual storyteller to create engaging social editorial content for its new tech vertical, Tech Brew. The social media editor will manage the day-to-day content calendar with a focus on Instagram, requiring strong research and script writing capabilities, and the ability to pitch engaging stories that resonate with Tech Brew’s brand identity and audience.

Working alongside the team lead, the social media editor will help bring Tech Brew’s social voice to life and drive engagement with a tech-oriented audience.

Responsibilities

• Build Tech Brew’s social presence across relevant platforms; cover trending news and live events; ideate and execute innovative social content.
• Pitch story ideas and identify graphic opportunities.
• Conduct research and draft social editorial copy on business and tech topics.
• Create graphics using provided templates.
• Collaborate with in-house design to craft high-level visual storytelling.
• Edit and enhance social-first content assets.
• Use editorial judgment and data to optimize content for the target audience.
• Track success through metrics such as account growth and engagement rates.
• Manage community engagement through comments and DMs.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in social media or digital journalism.
• Deep understanding of social media platforms and strategies.
• Proven track record managing Facebook, Twitter/X, and Instagram accounts for media outlets.
• Strong editorial judgment and adaptability to optimize social-first content.
• Excellent writing skills with the ability to condense topics into engaging, quick-copy formats.

Bonus Points

• Interest in tech news.
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and/or Figma.

Rate

$40-45/hr DOE
