Job Description

Empire Life is looking to hire a Graphic Designer to join our Communication & Design team for a 12 month contract. This role provides an opportunity to grow your skills while directly contributing to the business unit you are part of. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and work on various projects that keep you engaged and continuously learning. The position requires delivering excellent personal, accurate, professional, and courteous service and resolution to our customers.

Key responsibilities include updating existing design materials, creating new concepts for marketing materials, and collaborating on day-to-day design requests with business partners from marketing, communications, compliance, translations, and web development. You will act as a consultant on branding questions, maintain project status, participate in client presentations, and keep current on standard operating procedures as well as design trends and technology.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

• Graduate of a 3+ year post-secondary graphic design program
• 0-3 years of work experience in graphic design
• Excellent graphic design skills in typography, page layout, colour theory, and understanding of brand standards and design systems
• General understanding of UI/UX principles and prototyping techniques
• Excellent understanding of designing for multiple media (web, mobile, social, HTML5, email, print design, and motion graphics)
• Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Figma
• Knowledge or understanding of WorkFront is an asset
• Kknowledge of AODA accessibility standards and designing for web and PDF accessibility requirements
• Knowledge of complex form design and print prepress production
• The Provisional Registered Graphic Designer (RGD) designation is an asset
• Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
• Experience in the insurance/financial services industry is an asset
• Ability to work independently and as a team member
• Ability to develop and maintain working relationships
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
• High degree of diplomacy
• Attention to detail and accuracy
