Job Description

Title: Public Affairs Social Media & Graphic Design - Temporary Position

Department: Public Affairs

Supervisor: Public Affairs Manager

Salary: $18.00 per hour

Term/hours: Part time, temporary position; maximum of 30 hours a week. The work hours will be flexible and include occasional weekend and evening work to attend events for general and social media support. This position will work in person at our office located at 1200 S. Gene Autry Trail, Palm Springs, CA 92264.

Job Definition: Under supervision, the Public Affairs Social Media & Graphic Design Temp will perform a variety of duties, as assigned, with a strong focus on social media and graphic design, in addition to other marketing, public relations, and outreach assistance.

Responsibilities

The Public Affairs Social Media & Graphic Design Temp will conduct duties such as, but not limited to:

  • Plan, develop and post content to DWA’s various social media platforms, including graphics, videos, and reels.
  • Create compelling visuals such as graphics, videos, and outreach collateral, including photography of projects or events, as needed.
  • Develop and write engaging content for social media, advertising, marketing, and website.
  • Update website pages and events calendar.
  • Event coordination and assistance.
  • Support DWA photo library.
  • Promotional inventory assistance.

Requirements

Qualification/skills:

  • Schooling: High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Social media savvy: Familiarity with various social media platforms and their functionalities (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Nextdoor). Formal social media or related experience/education desired.
  • Creative digital media: Any combination of training, experience, or education in graphic design, video, and photography.
  • Writing: Ability to write proficiently for a variety of audiences, from social media to advertising campaigns.
  • Program knowledge: Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook; Google docs and sheets; Canva; website platforms; Adobe products a plus.

Additional Information

This is a temporary position requiring a flexible schedule to accommodate events and general support needs. The work will be conducted at the specified office location in Palm Springs, CA.
