Job Description
Are you creative, passionate, imaginative, and ready to reenter the workforce? The Department of Commerce is looking for a Graphic Designer to join their communications team. This position is part of the Return Utah program, which supports Utahns reentering the workforce after a career break. Candidates will receive 16 weeks of transitional support, including office technology reviews, coaching, mentorship, and job market readiness training, alongside traditional on-the-job training. This is a hybrid position for State of Utah residents, requiring in-person work for the first 4 weeks and 2 days in the office afterward.
You will work with the Communications Director to create and develop materials and digital assets, implement innovative design concepts, and develop marketing collateral. Responsibilities include collaborating with the team, researching trends, assisting in design concepts, ensuring consistent branding, managing multiple projects, and maintaining organized archives.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1 year of work experience as a graphic designer or experience being trained as a graphic designer.
- Skills in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Adobe Express, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, and After Effects.
Preferences: (these are not requirements)
- 2 years of working experience as a graphic designer.
- Experience with photography and video equipment, including DSLR cameras.
- Working knowledge of the pre-press and printing process.
- Experience working for a government entity.
