Work Experience

Artist/designer at The Anvil Inn, Pimperne, Dorset, UK
May 1, 2025 - July 18, 2025
Artwork for The Anvil Inn, Pimperne, Dorset In spring, 2025, I was asked to create 15 artworks for a newly refurbished village inn, The Anvil, in Pimperne, Dorset, UK. Since the inn had a long history as a forge and already contained many old black-and-white photos of blacksmiths, horses and local village scenes, the manager suggested I create some works that would sit alongside, yet add a splash of colour and energy to these older works already on the walls. He was completely changing the colour scheme in the inn and updating the interior quite significantly. Knowing I was creating quite lot of digital work at that time, he took a look at some of my work, liked it and gave me a fairly free brief, apart from requesting some abstract artworks, which I added to the already eclectic mix of horses, farriers, maps, local wildlife and plants already on the walls. As the turnaround time was relatively short, for expediency most of the works were created digitally, but I also included a few watercolours and a collage. My work depicted local flora and fauna, wildlife, farriers, horses and dogs, as well as more abstract collages and watercolours. This was such an enjoyable project, and I am so grateful to have been asked to do it. I feel as if I now have my work on permanent display in a lovely local gallery, not so far away from home; and it was lovely to be able to contribute to the upgrade of such a beautiful old inn.
