Position Description

TEMPORARY VISUAL DESIGNER

The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) in Boston seeks a temporary visual designer for a period of four months, starting in August through the end of December, with possibility to extend.

Key tasks

• Designs and formats projects such as posters, flyers, reports, social media posts, email/web headers, Power Points, signs, and event materials as well as developing templates for staff to use for smaller design needs with brand strategy and accessibility in mind.
• Reviews and provides feedback for staff formatted assets to ensure best communications practices, accessibility and brand cohesion.

Skills needed

• Ability to ideate, implement, and present multi-channel marketing collateral as well as multi-page reports and informative materials working within agency brand guidelines.
• Ability to complete design projects including working within project timelines, working with others, and making engaging, on brand, and effective design decisions.
• Effective communication skills to present ideas and design rationale both verbally and visually.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.

Software required

• Advanced understanding of and experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and XD.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Experience working in CMS such as Wordpress helpful.
• Experience using e-marketing software such as Constant Contact or Mailchimp helpful.

Pay: $45.42 per hour
