Position Overview

We are seeking a talented and creative UI Developer to join our dynamic team on an initial 6-month contract and contribute to the design and development of user interfaces for our digital products. The ideal candidate should possess a strong combination of design and technical skills, along with a passion for creating visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces. As a UI Developer, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including designers and backend developers, to translate design concepts into engaging and responsive user interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with colleagues to understand design specifications and convert them into functional, intuitive, and visually appealing user interfaces.
• Develop responsive and interactive web applications, ensuring seamless user experiences across various devices and screen sizes.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable front-end code using HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks (such as React, Angular, or Vue.js), PHP frameworks (such as Laravel, CodeIgniter or CakePHP) and Web Content Management Systems (WordPress).
• Create detailed documentation of all development work undertaken.
• Implement design concepts, wireframes, and mock-ups, ensuring pixel-perfect accuracy and consistency with the visual design.
• Optimize application performance and loading times by optimizing code, images, and other assets.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members to ensure code quality and best practices are maintained.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in UI development, and share knowledge with the team.
• Troubleshoot and resolve UI-related issues and bugs, collaborating with backend developers to ensure smooth integration.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Proven experience as a UI Developer or Front-End Developer, with a strong portfolio showcasing previous UI/UX design and development work.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with experience in one or more modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js, etc.) and PHP frameworks (Laravel, CodeIgniter or CakePHP).
• Familiarity with responsive design principles and mobile-first development (Bootstrap).
• Solid understanding of cross-browser compatibility and accessibility standards.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and package managers.
• Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for design aesthetics and visual details.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile development environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical team members.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of UI/UX design principles and user-centred design methodologies.
• Experience with UI/UX design tools such as Adobe XD, Sketch, Figma, or similar.
• Familiarity with CSS preprocessors (e.g., SASS, LESS) and build tools (Webpack, Gulp, etc.).
• Understanding of front-end performance optimization techniques.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment and using project management software (such as Jira).

Salary

£30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
