Position Summary

We are seeking a Graphic Designer specializing in science and education, you will play a crucial role in creating visually compelling materials that engage and educate our target audience of K-12 urban schools. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design graphics for various print and digital platforms, ensuring consistency with NY Sun Works brand identity and mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Graphic Design: Create visually appealing and informative graphics, illustrations, infographics, and layouts for a variety of mediums, including print materials, websites, social media, presentations, and more.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Development & Education teams to understand project goals, objectives, and target audiences.
  • Concept Development: Brainstorm and develop creative design concepts that effectively convey complex scientific and educational content in a visually engaging manner.
  • Brand Adherence: Ensure all design materials adhere to NY Sun Works guidelines and maintain a consistent and professional visual identity.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and communicate progress effectively to the team.
  • Feedback Incorporation: Actively seek and incorporate feedback from team members to refine and improve designs.

Qualifications

  • Background in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or a related field specifically in the science & education field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience as a Graphic Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing design work related to science, education, or similar fields.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Passion for science and education with the ability to translate complex concepts into visually appealing graphics.
  • Willingness to work on-site at our New York City offices for a minimum of 8 hours per week.
